1) What is an I.P.O. cycle? Describe with figure.
Ans: The IPO Cycle is
termed as Input-Processing-Output cycle. A computer receives data as input,
processes it, stores it and then produces output.
This Input-Process-Output
(I - P - O) cycle is represented in the following figure:
Input: The
devices that allows data and instructions to be entered in a computer (such as

Process: The
computer performs useful operations by manipulating the data in many ways. This
manipulation is called processing.
Output: The

Step 1: Divide (75)10 successively by 2 until the quotient is 0:
75/2 = 37, remainder is 1
37/2 = 18, remainder is 1
18/2 = 9, remainder is 0

1) What is flowchart? Draw the symbols used in flowchart and
write its work.
Ans: Diagrammatical representation of a problem is known as
flowchart.
Following are the different symbols of flowchart with their functions.
2) What is an operating system? Write its types and describe in
brief.
Ans: Operating system is software that acts as an interface between the
user and the computer hardware. The main purpose of the operating system
is to make the computer system easy to use and the computer hardware efficient.
The operating system performs basic tasks, such as receiving keyboard input,
processing instructions, and sending output to the screen. Examples:
Windows, MS-DOS, Linux, Unix, Mac etc.
Following are the types of
operating system.
i) Mobile Operating System
The mobile OS controls mobile
devices and the design supports wireless communication and mobile applications. It has
in-built support for mobile multimedia formats. Tablet PCs and smartphones use
mobile operating systems.
ii)
Network Operating system
Network operating systems are
systems that run on a server and manage all network functions. They
allow user to share various resources of computer system like files,
applications, printers, security, and other network functions over a small
network of computers, such as a LAN as a private network.
iii)
Distributed operating system
An operating system that
manages a group of independent computers and makes them look like a computer is
called a distributed operating system. The development of computer networks that
can be interconnected and communicated with each other has given rise to
distributed computers.
iv)
Character User interface (CUI) operating system
CUI operating system is a text-based operating system that is used to interact with software or files by entering commands for specific tasks. The command line operating system uses only the keyboard to enter commands. DOS and UNIX are the examples of CUI based operating system.
v)
Graphical User Interface (GUI) operating system
An operating system interface
in graphical mode instead of a mouse-based operating system, where
the user performs tasks or operations without typing commands from the
keyboard. Files or icons can be opened or closed by clicking the mouse button.
